The Crimean Scientific Center was established in 1997 for the purpose of coordination of the efforts of the scientists in the region for the implementation of scientific support of the regional and national problems solving.

 

   The chairman of the Board - Bagrov N.V., member of the of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, director of the Center – Doctor of Economy, Bashta A.I., Doctor of geography Smirnof V.O.

 

   The issues of environmental protection and sustainable development occupy the significant place in the activities of the Centre.

 

   Specific attention is given to the problems of energy resources, their rational and ecological usage, technical potential of the renewable energy sources and informational and educational support of resource and energy saving.

 

   The work on the theme of "Innovation strategy of regional development based on renewable energy, resource and energy efficiency " is finished. Within the framework of this theme, the possibility of using solar energy in the Crimea is considered, the results of the assessment of the natural resources of the Crimea are received, the general directions of modernization of energy for sustainable development in the region are showed.

 

   A number of patents in the sphere of energy saving and renewable energy resources was received: patent № 49078 “Photoconverter of solar energy”, patent number 49033 "Solar concentrator for photovoltaic modules” – author Bashta A.I.

 

   Scientific developments of scientists (solar concentrator for photovoltaic modules, photoconverter of solar energy) will be used in the manufacturing process for the production and design of systems of solar provision of heat and electrical energy of industrial enterprises and enterprises of domestic sector.

 

   The development of a new theme "Development of the Crimean recreation system based on renewable energy as the basis of environmental safety and sustainable development in the region" started.

 

   The Crimean Scientific Center carried out the scientific and technical work "Elaboration of concept development and functioning of local resort in Saki region of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea" in accordance with the application of the Saki state administration. The concept of development and operation of local resorts was elaborated, the list of investment projects on recreation development for all coastal boars of Saki area was grounded.

 

   The Section of the Scientific Board of NAS of Ukraine continues to operate on the problems of environment and sustainable development on the basis of the Crimean Scientific Center.

 

   The aim of the Regional Branch of the International Academy of Sciences of Ecology and Life Safety is a synthesis of science in the region and solving of the problem of life safety, environment and emergency situations to restore and maintain ecological balance, sustainable development of the region, protection of human life and health.

 

   The significant place in the activity of the Centre occupies the solving of the problem on integration of science and education – the scientists of the branch of the UNESCO Chair, organized on the basis of the Centre, of Taurida National V.I. Vernadsky University, work in the following directions: informational and educational, organizational, coordination of the scientific researches and educational programs within the Crimean region, popularization of knowledge in the field of the renewable energy and sustainable development.

 

   The issue of the new newspaper “Energy saving” is carried out by the Centre together with Sevastopol National Technical University and Sevastopol National University of the Nuclear Energy and Industry. The role of the newspaper is multidisciplinary: promoting of energy saving in all spheres; consultations on the questions of energy saving,

 

   deliveries, assembling and operation of the systems of energy saving, problems of energy saving and improving of the state of environment; questions of integration of science and education and others.

 

   In order to coordinate research in the region Crimean Scientific Centre acts as a cofounder of the journals included in the list of the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles of Ukraine: “Culture of the Black Sea peoples, "Taurida Journal of Informatics and Mathematics", “Geopolitics and ecogeodinamycs of the regions ", " Taurida medico-biological Bulletin”.

 

   A number of teacher editions, monographs is prepared for publishing.

 

   In order to improve the connection between science and society, to enhance the authority of science the Center has been actively involved in the conduct of Ukrainian Festival of Science. Among the events - an exhibition of student design bureau of the universities of the Crimean higher educational establishments, debate "Is it possible to manage culture?", photos “ Touch the Science”, an exhibition of works by students of the Crimean branch of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, and others.

 

   The center continues to support talented young people: the Regional Board of student design bureaus and student scientific societies was created and works successfully. It organized presentation and defense of scientific and technical works.

 

   In accordance with the agreement, the collaboration with the Minor Academy of Sciences of the Crimea “Searcher” is continued. Scientific-practical conferences, seminars, round tables are held on actual issues.

 

   The Centre successfully cooperates with the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Education and Science of the Crimea in the direction of organizing of the joint workshops, round table discussions on the actual issues, competitions. Scientists take part in the work of commissions, scientific councils of the Council of Ministers, the Supreme Council of the Crimea.

 

   The scientists of the Centre study the problems of increasing the intellectual potential of the region, activities on development and promotion of noospheric thinking are developed and implemented: the educational activity of the Ecologic-noospheric centre is actively implemented, the memorial study of V.I. Vernadsky is open.

 

   The Centre actively carries out educational work – the following events should be mentioned: activities on World Environment Day, World Water Day, International Year of Biodiversity, the International Year of Rapprochement of Cultures, speeches of scientists with popular science lectures, presentations of the scientific publications to promote the achievements of Ukrainian science.

 

   Considerable attention is paid to work made in the direction of solving of actual

 

   complex problems of the regional cultural and spiritual development – this is fostered by organizations of exhibitions of artists work, of popular and science and regional literature, meetings of scientists with poets, musicians and writers.
